“Live by the Spirit…and do not gratify the desires of the flesh.”
Hunger is a fact of life. Many are suffering because of lack of food. And because of this insatiable need for food, they are driven to unconscionable acts which, in due time, will lead to the downfall of their spirits.
There are those who sacrifice much to provide what others need for their physical bodies. They put themselves in the path of, blocking the evil desires that crop up out of the needs of people who have lost the ability to survive this horrible hunger. They are giving of themselves to help another. But, once these people are fed and their stomachs are full, what then?
The truth is our spirits are hungry, as well! Many who have all the food they need (and more); a roof over their heads; clothes on their backs; a car in the garage; two children; a dog and a cat; and a lucrative job to support all of this—are still hungry if their heart isn’t filled with the love of Jesus. One day life on this earth will cease and all the “stuff” you have accumulated will be for naught. The only thing that will count is if you love Jesus or not. Which is it for you?
We are told in so many places that “life is good.” What I want to say to you is “God is good” and that is what makes life good. When you lie according to the world’s standards, anything goes. Whatever makes you happy is the norm, as long as you do not get caught. Perhaps, the law of the land hasn’t stopped you, hasn’t found you out, but God has already. And, even so, He is waiting for you to recognize the error of our ways and ask Him for forgiveness and change your sinful ways. For from the cross Jesus exclaimed, “Forgive them Father for they know not what they do!” (Luke 23:34)
It is really as simple as this: “When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I reasoned like a child, I thought like a child; when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways.” (I Cor. 13:11) You see, until we grow up in the ways of God, we are like little children who need a parent to guide us.
Our spirits are crying out for food! That food is the Word of God. If your friends are those who live by anything other than the love of God, you need to change and seek new ones that do. If you are attending a church that does not preach the Gospel, you need to search for one that does. If you don’t attend worship, then you need to do so because you need the support of a Gospel preaching church and community.
“Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:11) God is waiting and eager to shower His grace upon you—He has created you—He loves you. Hear His word as it falls over you like a sweet-smelling rain, “Grace be with all who have undying love for our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 6:24)
Dear Lord, shower me with Your grace that I may walk in the way of righteousness. I need You, Lord—show me how to love you. In Jesus’ name, I pray. AMEN

Lead me Lord, lead me in Thy righteousness
